An amicable hungover football knowledgable 'tender elevated my drinking experience here above the ordinary with welcome friendly banter
Unusually (and most welcomly) for an Irish pub, 2 real ales Doom Bar and Otter Ale (a good beer as usual).
Sport was on but quiet and easy to ignore. -

So here I am in you know, Bath. So much history here. Makes me thirsty. Tried a few pubs, so far this is winning. They are playing something from the Blues Brothers which, frankly , is a little surprising. But hey, I 'm from Chicago so , ya know, it's all good. The Guinness is fresh, which makes me happy and crud.

Good local pub. Good pint of Guiness. Good craic if you care, or peace & quiet if you prefer. Shows all sporting fixtures & has live music at the weekend. Open late Friday through Sunday.

You might expect a faux Irish pub in the style of O'Neills and the like, but that's not really what you get with Flan O'Briens. It's not a chain, for a start and it's also got a decent range of drinks available. They're open pretty late on some nights, so if you're out in Bath until the early hours, it's likely that you might find yourself in here towards the end of the night. It can get pretty crowded at times, so you often have to fight your way to the bar/toilets, but that kind of adds to the vibe of the place This is definitely a drinkers pub, so don't expect a lot of finesse.

Marketed as an Irish pub but more of a sports bar that plays rock music really. Always seems to show the cricket, which is what drew me in. Wouldn't say it's cheap (£3.55 a pint of Heineken) but it's certainly spit and sawdust. Predominantly male crowd, as you'd expect.
